The Struggle with my addiction and how I'm getting through it..

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Most folks won't discuss their struggles in the open and I am a very private person however for years I have struggled with this addiction from the time I was young boy. I am addicted to candy.. not just one particular candy but gummies are my fave. I also just enjoy eating candy its like a disorder.. starting November 1st I have decided to go cold turkey on something that has been apart of my life for so long.. I know most would laugh but this is serious I run through boxes of fruit snacks in a day. I am working through this and I have a 17k dental bill to show how it has effected not only my health but my mind because litterally cant go an hour with out imagining something sweet chewy tasting. So keep me in your prayers as the struggle continues...

Just play the damn game already!

Friday, October 28, 2011

I sooooo hate local basketball courts! Filled with old egos of yesterdays glory. New egos of gym heros.. all in all fellas we just playing to stay fit and have fun. Since we don't hunt like our ancestors we need to do activity that hones our killer instinct. The fun leaves the game when folks argue over calls and call every foul!
In real life mayne you can't call every foul, or cry for every bruise you have to take the bitter with the sweet. Instead of complaing bruh! Just play the Game!

I am in Los Angeles training, I made it to the top of a peak at this canyon, and I was so relieved but then I yearned for the moments in between that got me there... all the moments that led to it. That's what I mean all the trials that I have overcame to get this far, and all the trials I will face.. However when I get there I will be fond of the times good and bad....

I actually feel solid coach says I have a long way to go but a 26ft jump I will take anytime of the year!!!

US Champs....

Training is going well........... I watched the the US champs and was very impressed by Ashton Eaton, he seems calmed and poised and I would consider his rise in the Decathlon (my event) as impressive as Usain Bolt in the 100m and 200m. To put it frank the man I often looked to as competition in decathlon (Bryan Clay) looked flat out old!!! I mean it was no joke he just lost his confidence you can tell family life has got the best of him which makes me understand why my training schedule has to be on point even more! As a parent of 4 children, running a company and working as a consultant I stay very busy as well as my contributions to my temple (church), fraternity and community. I just feel like there is so much time in the day so I can do it all.

Ok.. Ok... I took some time off.. Lets Talk

Monday, June 13, 2011

Ok I will be honest a took some time off, well I'm back I have watched a lot of the meets and I have seen so many basketball games this season I feel like a true sports fanatic. I have been on a heavy diet of ESPN 1st and 10. I think Skip Bayless is my uncle. I actually want to become a sports writer and analyst just so I can go on ESPN FIRST TAKE and hang out with Skip. Anyway I'm sure unless you have been on detox from T.V. you have seen the NBA Playoff's and all it has been offering. I was devasted when Kobe Bryant and my Lakers lost the chance to 3 peat and got swept by the now Champion Dallas Mavericks. I supported Dallas because I wanted to keep the trophy on the westside. Now Miami everybody knows I rep Dade hard but hey bruh LAKERs for life and when you have a guy like Lebron behind the mystique of a team it's easy to hate. To sum up the series, it was pure as sports gets. 2 Teams both with a dream, one team with a cast that would rival Cobra Commanders squad on G.I. Joe the other with a bunch of no names and one guy named Duke... wait I mean Dirk and when you see how this guy and Snake eyes (Jason Terry) fought a hard series and weren't intimidated at all. It was amazing to watch the arrogance of one opponent and the tenaciousness and fight of another. This time Last year during Lakers vs. Boston there was a less volatile tone. But nevertheless the masses were divded between Kobe's percieved cockiness and Boston's big three. Yes if you poll many people they say they don't mind the lakers but they hate Kobe. Wait Kobe bryant who has 5 rings? as in 5 NBA championships? Most people disregard Kobe because they say he is arogant and proud Well in the past 10 years he is the most winning athlete of any sport with exception of Tiger Woods. However golf in this Athlete's opinion golf is not sport nor or they athletes. Back to the story... and lets fast forward most of the people including me hated the Miami HEAT not for joining forces in a smart business and basketball move. But because of the manner in which they did it. Like they were shoe-ins or promised 6 championships... so impetuous. Then there is Lebron James (Destro) can't control his emotions, his mouth or his twitter acct. His whole demeanor changed when he hired his friend Maverick (go figure) to run his company and his billion dollar brand. Lebron in his 8th season has been called the second coming of Jordan, better than Kobe and oh yes could be the greatest player of all time. This and his self proclaimed title of King James.. he calls his fans witness's. Where as that works in WWE or even MMA in Basketball such brovado is frowned upon. In a sport where laid back Kareem abdul Jabar was labeled a radical it's not hard to see why there was so much back lash. So if people hate Kobe for the numerous add reason's. There is even more reason to dislike Lebron who has managed to choke on the biggest of stages, who has yet to win a Championship, yes 2 MVP's is nice, so is a scoring title. But this isn't Track and Field, or Wrestling this is a team sport. TEAM work makes the dream work. So lesson for all... if you want to do things your way, Just run Track...
