No Weapon!!!!!

Saturday, February 9, 2013

It was amazing the run both the Baltimore Ravens and the San Fran 49ers! All in all, the Ravens led by future hall of famer Ray Lewis won the. Super Bowl!!! This was an amazing game and now that we have seen the High lights! We know that the power was out which led to a surge by Colin Kapernick (my frat brother) but it wasn't enough.

I love how Ray Lewis submitted his petition to The Lord. The leadership that he instilled was comparable to ancient times. And he was right No Weapon formed against me shall prosper aNd everything that's against me that doesn't line up with God. The Lord will make it now Down!

It's been a while!

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Ok So its been a while! So much as changed I was bummed over the setback of not putting together a fighting try for London 2012. It's not that it didn't mean anything to me, it's just that I was finding me. Finding something only to surrender it is a matter of serenity and balance. I possess a poise, a confidence that I never knew was possible to have, all my days are amazing! God has shown me a perspective in his grace. for that I am grateful!

Now for the update! via Twitter before season that Baltimore Ravens led by Ray Lewis would be going to the Super Bowl. I also said that the 49ers would go, both 2 of my favorite teams. so next week I am going to be turned up!!

Road to redemption

Monday, September 24, 2012

When I set out to create this blog it was part commentary, part diary, part therapy. Since my first post I have done my best to be open and provide a pure perspective. Nothing's changed, this past year was full of excitement and a few setbacks. Mainly branches. Branches of thoughts, distractions, and people. Branches of indecision, which move to make. I'm proclaiming to the world on this day... I will never let branches hold me back again!

Benefits of training with Creatine

Thursday, January 26, 2012

What is creatine?
Creatine is an amino acid (amino acids are the building blocks of protein) which is made in the body by the liver and kidneys, and is derived from the diet through meat and animal products. Creatine (creatine monohydrate) is a colorless, crystalline substance used in muscle tissue for the production of phosphocreatine, an important factor in the formation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the source of energy for muscle contraction and many other functions in the body.

What does creatine normally do in the body?
In the body, creatine is changed into a molecule called "phosphocreatine" which serves as a storage reservoir for quick energy. Phosphocreatine is especially important in tissues such as the voluntary muscles and the nervous system which periodically require large amounts of energy.

Why do athletes take creatine?
Studies have shown that creatine can increase the performance of athletes in activities that require quick bursts of energy, such as sprinting, and can help athletes to recover faster after expending bursts of energy. Creatine is best for the serious bodybuilder. It helps increase muscle mass, rather than muscle endurance, so itís not well suited for athletes participating in endurance activities. However, the increase in muscle mass may be due to water retention and not an increase in muscle tissue.

Why have I been hearing so much about creatine and neuromuscular disorders?
Two scientific studies have indicated that creatine may be beneficial for neuromuscular disorders. First, a study by MDA-funded researcher M. Flint Beal of Cornell University Medical Center demonstrated that creatine was twice as effective as the prescription drug riluzole in extending the lives of mice with the degenerative neural disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease). Second, a study by Canadian researchers Mark Tarnopolsky and Joan Martin of McMaster University Medical Center in Ontario found that creatine can cause modest increases in strength in people with a variety of neuromuscular disorders. Beal's work was published in the March 1999 issue of Nature Neuroscience and the second paper was published in the March 1999 issue of Neurology.

I want to start taking creatine -- is it safe?
For the most part, athletes haven't experienced adverse side-effects from taking creatine, although recently there have been a few reports of kidney damage linked to creatine usage. No consistent toxicity has been reported in studies of creatine supplementation. Dehydration has also been reported to be a problem while taking creatine.

Athletes generally take a "loading dose" of 20 grams of creatine a day for five or six days, then continue with a "maintenance dose" of 2 to 5 grams of creatine a day thereafter.

What are the side effects?
Little is known about long-term side effects of creatine, but no consistent toxicity has been reported in studies of creatine supplementation. In a study of side effects of creatine, diarrhea was the most commonly reported adverse effect of creatine supplementation, followed by muscle cramping.18 Some reports showed that kidney, liver, and blood functions were not affected by short-term higher amounts or long-term lower amounts of creatine supplementation in healthy young adults. In a small study of people taking 5ñ30 grams per day, no change in kidney function appeared after up to five years of supplementation. Muscle cramping after creatine supplementation has been anecdotally reported in some studies.

Support during slumps

Saturday, January 7, 2012

As any athlete knows there are times when we go through slumps... I have been there. But how do you support your child when they experience slumps. My son had a game today they got blown out 22 -10 before halftime the score was 16 -0. Before game it was somber because my son hasn't been at practice due to illness, so pre game I just gave him a few things to work on, so he would feel calm. He rebounded well had 6 rebounds. During game its important to stay positive and focus on reinforcing his/her motivation.... after game just hug them and support them and if the game was less than stellar focus on highlights!

Tebow vs. the Jets and the World

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I am neither a Jets or Bronco's fan, but tonight there is a back story of the game of these (2) AFC power houses. First of all don't expect an offensive shoot but expect these 2 defense's to shut down both the sputtering offensives of each team. Granted each team has their strengths on offense the Jet's reciever core is one of the best in the league and the Bronco's offense has Willie Mcgahee and the super star Tim Tebow.  for weeks writers, and commentators around our sport have questioned whether Tim Tebow has what it takes to be an Elite quarter back in the NFL look for him to go to War Tonight. At time the Bronco's Lead 3-0!!

What is love?

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Love and honor together are not the most common place things we regard as values in popular culture. They tend to be misused and looked upon as an after thought when we think of friendship or relationships. The word of God asks us to "love the lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind... let's examine that level of commitment. In this generation its hard to find true commitment to things of virtue. Not only is this the first and great commandment it offers us the ultimate symbiotic relationship. This love will never taint, never fail and it only requires devotion. Now the reason in popular culture folks get divorces or switch partners at such an alarming rate has to do with 1. Not loving God and 2. Not loving self enough to understand that we all deserve pure love. Anytime a person perverts love or defiles their own and anothers body. Its because of their view of themselves. If you can't love and honor your self you can't honor someone else... and if you aren't honoring and loving the lord then you truly don't love your self. So what is love?
Love is a genuine gift we share it isn't purchased by actions or even contingent upon emotions at the moment. It may carry a strong emotional feeling but love should not be solely supported by feelings alone. Rather it is a decision we make on a daily basis that someone or something is valuable to us. Like genuine love, honor is a gift as well. Often times we make a choice to love someone before honor is present. Honor should be present before love is even a thought, if you honor a person love will keep you beholden to them. This isn't taught at school, or even in most households. We actually tend to love people who have no honor, or who have no respect for honor. I suggest if we are to have less heart ache in this life we should follow suit with our love of God applied to all situations..
